Back-to-School Message and Invitation to Become a Peer Reviewer
With the end of summer comes the start of a new academic and professional year. Welcome to our new students, the next generation of wound, ostomy, and continence care professionals and skin wellness leaders, and welcome back to all NSWOCs and SWANs!
This issue of the CJWOC offers an excellent opportunity to continue our professionaldevelopment. It includes a scoping review, by Heerschap et al., of the evidence related to ostomy assessment in pregnant women, as well as in paediatric and adolescent populations. This review is part of the OASIS study (Ostomy Assessment Systematic Integration of Studies). Several topics of interest are explored, including pregnancy with an ostomy, the needs of families and caregivers, challenges experienced by young people living with an ostomy, and the management of ostomies and their complications in paediatric populations.
A second article, by Boehringer, Summers, Leyenaar, Verstreken, describes a pilot project conducted in a rural setting, in which community paramedics provided at-home care for skin tears in older adults. The results of this project were positive and promising.
The evaluation of the information and updates presented in the CJWOC would not be possible without the involvement of peer reviewers. These individuals volunteer their time to review manuscripts submitted to the journal, helping to ensure and enhance their quality. We are always looking for colleagues who are interested in becoming peer reviewers and contributing to the review of manuscripts submitted to the journal. If you are interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to guide you through the peer review process.
Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the new academic and professional year!
